A little about us...

The Hills family started farming at Swains in the 1930's as traditional market gardeners.
Most of the produce was destined for the (now closed) Brighton Market where they ran the "E Hills & Sons" stand.

Over the years there have been many changes in farming practice, but the farm itself is still run by the family to this day.

In 1984 Mick decided to start out on his own by setting up a small shop at the front of the farm. Today he still goes to market early every morning for the freshest produce. Our dedication to growing and sourcing only the freshest and finest available produce, locally where possible, means we have an enviable reputation amongs restaurants in the village & local area. Many of them have been with us since the shop first opened.

Over the years, the shop has steadily expanded with the addition of a garden centre and ever growing collection of farm animals.

As a family concern Mick's Son & Daughters are also involved in the day to day running of the business.

Shelley and Nina can usually be found manning and maintaining the shop whilst Paul manages the Garden Centre.

This year will be our 25th anniversary and we will be holding events throughout the summer to celebrate.

We all look forward to welcoming you to Swains soon!
